There are few men more vulgar in American public discourse than far-right talk radio host Rush Limbaugh. This is a man whose records included telling a Black caller to “take that bone out of your nose” and who once opined that feminism was invested “to give ugly women access to the mainstream.” “Boss Limbaugh,” as MSNBC’s Keith Ulbermann refers to him given that Limbaugh is in effect the leader of the Republican party, also considers the torture of Abu Gharib to be nothing more than innocent college fraternity hazing.
The prominence of Limbaugh and his many admires is a testament to how vile, stupid, petty and low-brow American political speech is. In no other civilized nation are people like Limbaugh listened to by millions. The fact that he and his band of even less talented zealots now run the Republican party is another indictment to how far American politics has come from the days of, say, Kennedy and Barry Goldwater.
Tune into Limbaugh any day and he is bound to say something stupid. The death of Michael Jackson proved to be no exception. Recently, Limbaugh came up wit his own theory explaining the success of Michael Jackson and then the pop superstar’s relative decline.
Apparently, for the mentally distributed Limbaugh everything is always tied to politics. It is impossible for him to think about anything outside of the domain of further his own asinine views.
Limbaugh stated that Jackson “flourished under Reagan. and then “languished under Clinton/Bush” and then finally “died under Obama.”
Of course, Limbaugh idolizes Reagan and it is fitting that he would state that the best years of Jackson would be those under the years of his idol Reagan. Limbaugh is less crazy about Clinton and even Bush and, well, Jackson is then so-so in that era reflecting the times. And then Limbaugh hates Obama and Jackson happens to die during Obama’s presidency reflecting the awfulness of the Obama 5-month era.
Did you get that. Reagan equals great for everything in America including in matters of life-or-death. Clinton/Bush = so-so. And Obama = DEATH.
